Five more Indian cities will soon have direct flights to the emirate, while Gulf Air could soon begin flights to RAK from Bahrain.

Ras Al Khaimah is set to become even more accessible to international tourists and businesses alike.

Indian airline SpiceJet has announced an expansion of its operations at Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) International Airport. Five new Indian cities – Mumbai, Cochin, Amritsar, Lucknow and Jaipur – will now have direct flights to the northern emirate.

SpiceJet is also increasing the frequency of its existing Delhi to Ras Al Khaimah flight route.

The news comes as RAK aims to attract 2.9 million annual visitors by 2025.

“This new tranche of services from SpiceJet will further enhance our role as a vital transport hub for the UAE,” commented Sanjay Khanna, CEO of RAK International Airport. “We are working hard to attract more airlines to our facility and expect our operations to grow significantly this year for the anticipated post-COVID-19 economic bounce and Expo 2020 in October.”

Ajay Singh, CMD at SpiceJet, added: “The addition of our new flights to Ras Al Khaimah will both meet existing requirements for flights to and from the UAE and India, as well as help fuel new demand.”

In addition to this announcement, there could soon be a direct flight route between RAK and Bahrain following an agreement between RAK Airport and Gulf Air.

Both parties are exploring the potential for increased services between the emirate and Bahrain, which could signal the creation of the new flight path.

“We are always keen to explore ways to enhance the connectivity between Bahrain and the UAE,” explained Waleed Al Alawi, Gulf Air’s acting CEO. “As a boutique carrier, we look forward to adding Ras Al Khaimah to our network of destinations.”

Located just a short 30-minute drive from RAK International Airport, the resort of Al Marjan Island will be in easy reach for any of the new travellers from India and Bahrain.
